Wandsworth's Victorian terraces in Battersea, Balham, Tooting and Earlsfield have been extended more thoroughly than almost any comparable stock in London. Density of works is the other issue. These streets have had so much building done over the past twenty years that a good number of houses sit next to an active site or a recent one, and services get disturbed, rerouted and occasionally damaged in the process. A leak that starts the week the neighbours dig out their basement is worth mentioning as such, because it changes where anybody sensible looks first.
